Because of the lack of experience, some clients, especially some private house owners don't understand the kitchen furniture through drawings well, while the shop drawing is the basic of kitchen producing. To solve this problem, I will attach a set of shop drawings and talk more about it.
All the kitchen furniture design is started from a floor plan like above. It is a top view of the whole kitchen, marking the locations of walls and cabinets. You will also find the pointers named A, B, C.... Usually, these pointers are clockwise and they are used in the elevations drawings. In the coloured drawings, lines in different color or types represent different items, such as the area of countertop, the separated cabinets, the sink and appliances, etc.. You can distinguish them according to the legend listed. The common mistakes in the plan drawing include incorrect wall sizes or locations, not-enough space for walking through, the sink location is not at the water outlet point, etc..
The next part of kitchen furniture design is the elevations. They are drawn according the alphabetic order. Starting from the cabinets toward walls clockwise, and the last are island and other details. Elevations are the exterior view of cabinets, which also reflect the completed cabinets looking. Normally each elevation will have its section besides, to show the inner design. Sometimes, interior elevations (means no door covering) will be drawn for better understanding. Take this drawing as example, because of the wall, the tall cabinets are separated into two parts, but the upper cabinet and lower cabinet are sharing the same piece of door.
On the floor plan, there are different lines for base cabinets and overhead cabinets. On the corresponding elevation, it shows the height and functions of these cabinets. If base cabinets are separated by horizontal lineslike above, they are drawer cabinets; if the cabinets have dotted beveled lines, they are cabinets with hinged doors. Appliances are also marked on the corresponding locations. readers are easy to understand the kitchen furniture design.
It is same idea to describe the island design. Since it is independent from walls and other cabinets, we use more elevations or sections to show every side of it.
Of course, if clients are not understanding the drawings well, we will provide detailed drawings or 3D image to assist.
