Custom made furniture for 40 SQM apartment

In the last few case study, we have focused on custom kitchen cabinets in apartments or villas, in this case study we will talk more about custom made furniture in a completed apartment.

This is a 40 SQM apartment for single or a couple. Though 40 SQM is not big, this apartment has everything. Designer integrate the kitchen, dinning room, bedroom, study and living room together. Every functional space is apart from each other, as well as saving a lot of space by cancelling partitions among them.

The overall design style is vivid and natural. The main color is white mixed with natural wood, embellish some gray tone floor, tiles, wall paint furniture, and other ornaments.

1. Custom made furniture - Kitchen cabinet

Kitchen cabinet is the one always need to be customized, especially the wall-to-wall built-in kitchen like this one. This is a straight floor-to-ceiling kitchen with tall cabinet and fridge on both sides as pantry and crockery. Cooking and washing area are in the middle, as well as three belts of light woodgrain panels matching with the rest white doors. No protruded handles means all the door panels and drawers are push-open. To avoid getting bored with the matching with white color and woodgrain, designer embellish the backsplash with decorative tiles. Besides, lights are fixed under overhead cabinet to enhance the lighting.

2. Custom made furniture - Bathroom vanity

Since this apartment is not big -- bathroom is also acted as laundry. The bathroom vanity is made from simple thick solid wood. The laundry cabinet is sit beside it. Above and beside the washing machine are cabinets for linen and laundry detergent. There is not enough space for both bath rub and shower room, so there is only a square bath tub here. A piece of clear glass help to prevent the water split out to laundry.

3. Custom made furniture - Wardrobe

Wardrobe is a big part for household. And in this apartment design, there are two wardrobes in corridor and bedroom. Wardrobe in corridor is for the coats, suits and outdoor wear hanging. It is also for bags, umbrella, and others. Wardrobe in bedroom is for other clothes and bedding. Since it’s not far from the bed, so the wardrobe doors are sliding on the rails.

4. Custom made furniture - Study

Beside the bedroom and living room is the study corner. Two desks are perfect for couple who use their computers together. Simple cabinets are fixed on wall to store the books paintings and other gadgets. Colors of them are in same idea of other furniture: white and woodgrain.

Because the space is limited, there are somethings imperfect.

The way from bedroom to bathroom is a bit far away that people should walk through the living room, kitchen and corridor, which is not easy to go to bathroom during the night.

For people loving television, they need to change the study corner to TV stand, or you would only watch their favourite TV program online.

It’s not a good idea to have a party over a dozen people - it will be too crowded to enjoy themselves.
