Pantone published her color of this year 2020: Classic Blue. Following this color trend, we make a 3D draft of new kitchen design in this elegant blue. Let’s have a look.
We used one of the architectural plans of the previous projects to design this kitchen. This is a one-bedroom apartment designed for couples. There are a big bedroom, a big terrace, and a living space integrating the kitchen, the dining room, the sitting room, the laundry, and the storage.
In the former design, the kitchen is L-shaped, starting from door to dining area. The opposite is laundry cabinet with mudroom cabinets. In this new kitchen design, we cancel the mudroom cabinets, and put fridge and pantry beside the laundry. Thus, we have more space to make a U-shaped kitchen cabinet instead. Besides, we move the dining table next to the peninsula of kitchen to remain enough space for sitting area.
When drafting this new kitchen design, we find it's not nice if you use blue color everywhere. Classic blue is a color of calm, and we want to mix it with something light. We add a row of light blue cabinet overhead as well as the light blue open shelves at the ends of cabinets. We choose a pale gray wallpaper with strips to make the atmosphere much gentler.
Frankly speaking, except the black and gray, colors such as deep blue, deep green, and other deep color is not frequently used in modern kitchen design. They are more likely in the classical, rustic or post-modern kitchens. This new kitchen design in classic blue is a nice trial for us to know more about color.
